This book is the result of three study tours of 22 Indonesian NGOs, working in the field of reproductive health, to the Netherlands in 1998 and 1999. The tours were funded by the Ford Foundation, and implemented by the center for Gender and Health Communication in Jakarta and the Department of Medical Anthropology of the University of Amsterdam.
To be exposed to a great variety of work, to be able to reflect on one’s observations in a group, to stimulate own creativity by thinking of transfer into one’s own setting, and to build a networking base at regional and national meetings beyond the local context, proved to be a very useful methodology for a study tour.
The book is useful for NGOs which work in the field of reproductive health, development organizations, consumer organizations and reproductive health advocates.
